• Welcome to Converted Church. The church was built in 1859 and heritage listed. We have newly opened ‘The Bell Tower’ for accommodation. The church is spacious and unique, both a quality hotel experience with comforts of home. We are happy to share the space with you.

This building had many lives, being a church; formally run predominantly by female ministers, a store for statue makers, a film studio and more. The style is Colonial Georgian, seen in the arched windows. The façade is Greek Revival.

We are in Fitzroy, the oldest suburb in Melbourne. Known to be a cultural hub with a rich history etched into old pubs, gay bars, narrow streets and terrace houses. Nearby Smith Street, which was voted ‘No.1 coolest Street in the world for 2021. And walking distance from the charming Brunswick Street and Gertrude Street. Throughout Fitzroy, you’ll find hip restaurants, wine bars, vintage sellers, streetwear stores, handmade ceramics, book dealers and record shops. And just a moment away from CBD and Carlton Gardens.

We’re on the Internet too. To stay up-to-date on our latest projects, ideas, recipes and dreams follow us at @convertedchurch

    Glad you’re here.

  • Roz is responsible for Converted Church’s current beauty, and as you’ll see, she has done a beautiful job. Keeping the essence and heart of the Church alive, and yet creating a wonderfully modern and sympathetic space. Nicola manages Converted Church and you will find, that she does this with the same attention to detail and care that her mother has taken with the renovation work.

We host creatives and travellers. We feel lucky to share this beautiful space. Human connection and joy is the goal. Total freedom to create, with no judgment. People learn and transform through play and engagement. We are creating an environment for this to happen. Restoring and sharing old buildings is our passion.
